Red Doors
Exodus 12:13
The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are, and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.
If you look around the church, you may have noticed all of the doors at FAUMC are red. Have you ever wondered why? If you look around at other churches you will notice this is a very common theme. There is a historical and cultural significance in the red doors. In the Old Testament, Exodus 12:13 says that the Israelites, while being held as slaves in Egypt, were told to cover their doors with the blood of a lamb. This would symbolize their obedience to God so that the angel of death would pass over their homes. The red is a sign of protection.
When you walk through our red doors, remember you are walking into a place of reassurance. FAUMC is a place where you can rest, refresh and be restored. There is safety and acceptance here too. With everything that is happening in today’s world, I know that every Sunday I feel blessed to be able to walk through our red doors.
In Christ,
Mandee Huyck, FAUMC Lay Leader
